Role Description

Description: Elder Help Peel is looking for committed community leaders to serve on its Board of Directors as volunteer Board Members. This is an active and hands-on Board. The Board of Directors, in addition to providing Governance, helps to guide the strategic planning and administration of this Brampton based not-for-profit organization. Prospective Board members should have strong ties to the community with a focus on Seniors. Additionally, Elder Help is looking for members who are trained, certified or skilled in and with connections in Healthcare, Marketing, Communications, Finance and IT.  Time Commitment:

  • Board members hold office for three year terms
  • Board members can expect to contribute 10 hours per month to this role
  • Board meetings will be held each Wednesday of every month for one hour
  • Ability to attend functions outside of normal business hours, as required

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Must be 20+ to apply. Retirees and Seniors welcome to apply!
  • Highly proficient English language both written and oral. Secondary languages spoken is both welcome and an asset.
  • Must be fully vaccinated, and willing to provide a copy of Ontario Ministry of Health COVID-19 proof of vaccination.
  • Volunteer commitment of at least 6 months required.
  • Some volunteer roles require proficient use of the internet, ability to communicate via email, including scanning documents, MS Suites and Teams/Zoom Video Conferencing.
  • Some volunteer roles require proficiency in audience development, branding and content marketing, detail oriented digital marketing, graphic design, marketing and media creation, web marketing and WordPress.
  • Application Process: Interview, background check, orientation, ongoing support from Elder Help Peel staff.
