Royal Visits to Canada

Over the years, there have been many Royal Visits to Canada. Did you know that the first one occurred way back in 1786 when Prince William Henry, the future King William IV, visited Newfoundland, Quebec and Nova Scotia? The first time a reigning monarch visited Canada was in 1939 when King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, crisscrossed the country by train prior to the start of World War II. Thirteen years later, his daughter, the young Princess Elizabeth and her husband, the dashing Prince Philip, made their first of many trips to Canada.
