Financial Abuse Overview
The most common form of elder abuse, financial abuse, is defined as any improper conduct, done with or without the informed consent of the senior that results in a monetary or personal gain to the abuser and/or monetary or personal loss for the older adult. Financial abuse can be prevented when we understand the root causes. In order to protect each other from financial abuse, we must know the signs. This presentation will provide an overview of financial abuse, type of abuse, including power of attorney, tactics used to take advantage of older adults, list of supports/resources for help and reporting
